OKLAHOMA CITY - Oklahoma City University will share the host site with Science & Arts University for the 2024 Sooner Athletic Conference Softball Tournament May 3-5.
The top eight teams from the 2024 SAC regular season advance to the conference's postseason championship for a three day, double-elimination tournament. The first pitch is scheduled for Friday, May 3 at Ann Lacy Stadium.
Oklahoma City was crowned regular season champions. The Stars finished the season 48-2 overall and 35-1 in conference play while closing out the season on a 29 game winning streak with an undefeated home record for the first time since 2017.
No. 1 OCU will take on the No. 8 seed SAGU to open the tournament at 11 am. The two teams come off previously meeting in the regular season finale where the Stars swept the Lions by outscoring SAGU 29-2 with a pair of run rules.
Friday will feature four contests beginning with the top-seeded Stars taking on the No. 8 seeded Southwestern Assemblies of God Lions (14-36, 8-28 SAC) at 11 a.m. Southwestern Christian (24-23, 20-16) is the No. 4 seed and will take on No. 5 seeded Wayland Baptist (22-28, 18-18 SAC) approximately 25 minutes after the completion of the first game.
Day one of the tournament will have two more games on tap with the elimination losers bracket game at 3 p.m. with the winner's bracket game to follow.
Day two will consist of two games with the if necessary games and the championship game coming on Sunday. The championship will start at 3 pm as the site is still to be determined
