Stars Complete Series Sweep of Tigers

OKLAHOMA CITY – Second-ranked Oklahoma City stayed undefeated in the Sooner Athletic Conference and completed a series sweep of Central Christian, 13-4 and 12-0, on Friday.
 
The Stars are 22-0 in the Sooner Athletic Conference and extended their winning streak to 26 games.
 
Tara Hoehner had five hits, including three home runs, and drove in six in the doubleheader.
 
OCU 13, Central Christian 4 (6 innings)
 
Central Christian had one-run leads in the first and third innings but OCU answered quickly. Hoehner had a solo home run in the bottom of the first and Iliana Ashford added an RBI single in the third to even things at 2-2.
 
Gabby Moreno homered, Carlee Mollet and Hadley Gibson added RBI singles and Hoehner added a two-run home run for a 7-2 lead in the fourth inning.
 
The Tigers narrowed the lead to 7-4 but Gibson added a two-run single and Ashford ripped an RBI double for a 10-4 lead.
 
OCU ended the game in the sixth with a solo home run by Analise Rayburn and a two-run home run by Moreno.
 
The Stars ended with 17 hits, led by Gibson, Hoehner and Moreno with three each. Ashford and Jessica Phares contributed two each.
 
Brynlee Alsip went the distance for her 20th win of the season.
 
OCU 12, CCCK 0 (5 innings)
 
The Stars scored three runs in each of the first two innings and added six more in the third on the way to the run-rule win.
 
Ashford had an RBI triple and scored on a double by Kaiden Spidell for a 3-0 lead in the first.
 
Hoehner ripped a three-run home run in the second for the 6-0 lead.
 
Mollet, Ashford, Rayburn and Spidell had RBI singles in the sixth to go along with RBI doubles by Gibson and Moreno.
 
McKenna Snyder went the distance for the Stars, checking the Tigers on three hits.
 
OCU had 14 hits, led by seven players with two each: Gibson, Ashford, Hoehner, Rayburn, Spidell, Moreno and Mollet.
 
The Stars are back in action next weekend, hosting Mid-America Christian in doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday.
