ROCKY FACE, Ga. – Oklahoma City University completed the Dalton State Roadrunner Classic with a second-place finish at The Farm Golf Club.
Ty Stites grabbed a top-10 finish to lead the Stars. OCU, ranked second in NAIA men's golf, shot a 292-295-296–883 on the par-72, 7,036-yard course.
Stites, a sophomore from Sallisaw, Okla., delivered a 71-72–75–218 to place seventh.
Eli Scott and Jackson Lawlor steered top-ranked Coastal Georgia to the team victory. Finished second and third in the individual standings. Scott had a 68-72-73–213 and Lawlor carded a 74-69-71–214. Coastal Georgia posted a 287-285-296–868.
Sixth-ranked Northwestern Ohio finished third, fifth-ranked Keiser (Fla.) came in fourth, while fourth-rated Dalton State (Ga.) took fifth. Other top-25 teams in the field were third-ranked Texas Wesleyan, eighth-ranked South Carolina Beaufort, ninth-rated Rocky Mountain (Mont.), 12th-ranked Thomas (Ga.), 16th-rated Taylor (Ind.), 20th-ranked Wayland Baptist (Texas) and 25th-ranked Southeastern (Fla.).
Peri'Don Castille supplied OCU with the best round of the day to climb from 29th to a tie for 14th with a 77-74-70–221. Castille, a junior from Dallas, turned in his team-best eighth top-15 finish, while Carson Seals finished tied for 14th, adding a 72-73-76–221. Seals, a junior from Ardmore, Okla., nothced his sixth top-15 finish.
Jack Madden had a 72-82-75–229 for the Stars. Brandon Strathe turned in an 80-76-76-232. Sam Simonsen competed as an individual, recording a 80-77-77–234.
The Stars looks to win their five straight league title in the Sooner Athletic Conference Championships on April 22-23 at Tascosa Golf Club in Amarillo, Texas.
