SPRINGFIELD, MO. - The Oklahoma City women's golf team competed in the Missouri State/Payne Stewart Memorial Tournament on Monday and Tuesday coming home with fifth place finish in the three-round affair.

The Stars finished in fifth-place with scores of 292 in round one, 295 in round two, and a score of 303 in round three. Oklahoma City's total team score turned out to be 890 and 26 strokes over par, good enough to tie for fifth with the University of Texas El-Paso.  

Sophomore from Southlake, Texas MaKayla Tyrrell was the top finisher for the Stars coming in second place individually and tying the course record of 66 in round one. Tyrrell fell just two strokes behind the individual winner from California Baptist Sofia Chabon who a 208, eight under par.

The Oklahoma City women's golf team will take some time off before its next tournament as the Stars will then hit the links for a three-day tournament in Lubbock, Texas for the Red Raider Invitational, hosted by Texas Tech University on Sept. 24-26.
