BOULDER CITY, Nev. – Oklahoma City University posted a fifth-place finish in the South Dakota State Jackrabbit Invitational on Tuesday at Boulder Creek Golf Club. 

Reagan Chaney and Maddi Kamas delivered top-five finishes for the Stars, ranked second in NAIA women's golf. Oklahoma City finished in front of 10 NCAA Division I squads. 

OCU turned in a 302-288-288–878 on the par-72, 6,343-yard course. The Stars ended up 14 shots off the pace set by Middle Tennessee. South Dakota State, Missouri State and Rutgers rounded out the top four. Oklahoma City landed four strokes ahead of Little Rock. 

Chaney, a freshman from Ardmore, Okla., forged a tie for second place with a 72-72-69–213. Chaney came up with one of seven rounds under 70 among the field Tuesday to finish four strokes behind the tournament winner Anna-Maria Diedrichs from Rutgers (72-66-71–209). Chaney knocked in five birdies during the final round to finish the tournament with 13. 

Kamas brought OCU a tie for fifth with a 74-70-71–215. Kamas, a freshman from Kingfisher, Okla., owned one of seven under-par total scores in the tournament and 12 under-par rounds in the last round. Kamas tied for the tournament lead with 13 birdies, seven of which she buried Tuesday. 

The Stars' Natalie Gough and Morgan Palermo tied for 34th among the field. Gough shot one of eight even-par rounds to finish at 78-77-72–227. Gough, a senior from Bixby, Okla., made six birdies, four in the third round. Palermo, a freshman from Parker, Colo., produced a 78-73-76–227 while collecting eight birdies this week. 

Paige Wood, a freshman from McKinney, Texas, carded a 80-73-78–231 while piling up seven birdies for OCU. The Stars entered Jamie Welsh as an individual, and she had a 78-78-78–234. 

The temperature at the course started the day at 52 degrees and reached 70 degrees by mid-day with a high temperature of 79 degrees hit late in the afternoon.

Oklahoma City plays next in the Kyle Blaser Invitational on March 28-29 at Gaillardia Country Club in Oklahoma City.
