BOULDER CITY, Nev. – Top-ranked Oklahoma City University brings a string of three consecutive wins into the Las Vegas Shootout Monday and Tuesday at Boulder City Golf Course.
The Stars, ranked No. 1 in NAIA women's golf, tees off for the first time in the spring season 7:30 a.m. PST (9:30 a.m. CST) Monday on the par-72, 5,914-yard course.
The tournament hosted by Oklahoma City includes 15th-ranked Menlo (Calif.). OCU collected victories in its last three tournaments and four of five events in the fall. In their last time out, the Stars prevailed against a field of three ranked squads with a 305-305-304–914 on Nov. 1-2 in the Coqui Classic in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.
At Rio Mar Country Club, Natalie Gough spearheaded OCU by taking her third career victory with a 77-74-74–225. Gough, a senior from Bixby, Okla., posted four top-three finishes in five starts in the fall with a 72.93 stroke average.
Reagan Chaney topped the Stars with a 72.07 scoring average. Chaney, a freshman from Ardmore, Okla., produced two wins and a runner-up finish in the fall. Chaney set program records for a single round (34-30–64), 36 holes (64-69–133) and 54 holes (70-68-67–205) earlier this season.
Oklahoma City put together team records for a round (272), two rounds (280-280–560) and three rounds (286-288-272–846) during the fall.
