Stars take third spot in preseason SAC poll

OCU faces Bethany at 5 p.m. Aug. 27 at Harvey Field

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University has been projected to finish third in the Sooner Athletic Conference women's soccer preseason poll.
2019 will mark Brian Harvey's final season as the OCU men's and women's head soccer coach. He has produced a 370-121-27 women's record in his 25-year term. Harvey's combined men's and women's mark over 33 years stands at 799-323-68 entering the fall.
Oklahoma City won the 2018 SAC regular-season title with a league record of 6-1-1. OCU finished 11-3-2 overall, losing 3-0 to USAO in the 2018 SAC Tournament semifinals to end their its season.
USAO has been selected to as the favorite to win the SAC in 2019, edging John Brown by one point for the second straight year. USAO defeated John Brown 2-0 in the 2018 SAC Tournament championship. 
SAC coaches named USAO as the favorite on six ballots, accumulating 77 points total. John Brown received four first-place votes and sits just a point behind USAO with 76 points. 
Oklahoma City received 61 points to take the No. 3 spot with Texas Wesleyan sitting just one point below in fourth. Wayland Baptist garnered 43 points to sit at fifth, while Mid-America Christian and Central Christian finished sixth and seventh, respectively. 
Southwestern Christian, Southwestern Assemblies of God and Panhandle State round out the 2019 preseason poll.
The 2019 SAC Tournament runs from Nov. 9-15 on campus sites. The conference tournament champion advances into the NAIA Championships. 
Oklahoma City will meet Bethany (Kan.) at 5 p.m. Aug. 27 at Brian Harvey Field to open its season. OCU has recorded double-digit victory totals in 23 of the program's 25 years.
