OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City winds down the Sooner Athletic Conference baseball season with a key three-game set this weekend.
 
The Stars host College of the Ozarks in a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Friday and a 1 p.m. single game on Saturday, which will be the Senior Day game.
 
OCU Notebook
Previously: Oklahoma City produced seven runs on 13 hits, but it wasn't enough in a 27-7 loss at USAO on Friday. Wyatt Pace gave the Stars a 1-0 lead in the first inning with an RBI single by USAO scored 18 runs in the third inning to take control of the game. Aiden Alexander had an RBI double and Eli Hill added an RBI single in the fourth. Jared Raasch had an RBI single and Trent Baker drove in a run in the sixth. Raacsh added a two-run home run in the seventh. Raasch, Baker and Aiden Van Rensum had two hits each for the Stars.
 
SAC Look-In: While the field is set for the SAC postseason, the seeds are far from solidified. The top four seeds host a best-of-three series next weekend to determine which four teams will go on to the final SAC site in Joplin, Mo. OCU currently is tied with USAO for sixth but only a game behind Nelson, Wayland Baptist and Central Christian. An OCU sweep of Ozarks gives the Stars a great chance of moving into the top four. The Stars have the head-to-head tiebreakers with WBU and CCC. Central Christian plays Nelson, so one of those team will reach at least 15 wins, which is the max the Stars could reach with a sweep. Other series this week have USAO at Mid-America Christian and Wayland Baptist at Texas Wesleyan.
 
Senior Salute: OCU honors its seniors on Saturday, saluting Aiden Alexander, Cole Sedgwick, Aiden Van Rensum, Bauer Brittain, Dalton Campbell, Trent Baker, Cade Kelsey, Jack Johnson and Nick Anaya in a pregame ceremony.
 
Stars at Home: The home field has not been kind to OCU. The Stars lost seven of their last eight home games to fall to 6-12 on the home field. OCU hits .311 with a 9.06 team earned run average at Jim Wade Stadium. Brittain Brewer is hitting .455 and Aiden Van Rensum has seven home runs and 28 RBIs to go with a .414 batting average.
 
OCU vs. the SAC: OCU is batting .290 in SAC games, led by Trent Baker at .466 and Brittain Brewer at .448. Aiden Van Rensum has four home runs and 26 RBIs in 24 conference games. The pitching staff carries a 6.27 ERA in league games.
 
Hitting: OCU hits .294 as a team this season, led by Trent Baker and Aiden Van Rensum at .387 and .380, respectively. Van Rensum has 13 home runs and 59 RBIs. Baker is fourth in the league in hitting. Van Rensum leads the SAC in RBIs and is second in home runs.
 
Pitching: The Stars have a 7.75 earned run average. The SAC rotation has been Cayden Maxwell (2-8, 5.96), Bauer Brittain (5-3, 5.16) and Trent Baker (3-4, 6.84). Nick Anaya leads the team with a 3.86 ERA and has four saves. His four saves are second in the SAC.
 
Stolen Bases: The Stars this season are 88 of 105 in the stolen base department. Trent Baker is 29 for 31, Cooper Holtorf has 19 thefts and Aiden Alexander has 14. Baker leads the SAC with his 29.
 
About College of the Ozarks: Ozarks enters the series at 24-21 overall and 11-13 in conference. The Bobcats are on a five-game slide but plays two games against Kansas Christian on Tuesday. The team is batting .253, led by Chase Robertson at .315. Robertson leads the team with 24 RBIs and shares the team home run lead with Aaron Fisher with four. The Bobcats have a 5.11 team ERA. Their primary starters have been Cameron Jennings (6-3, 3.88), George Reynolds (4-4, 4.77) and Brody Baumann (304, 6.11). Ty Thatcher has three saves.
