This Week in OCU Women's Basketball

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City takes on Williams Baptist on Tuesday for its lone game during Thanksgiving Week.
 
The Stars (3-4) host the Eagles (3-2) at 2 p.m.

Welcome Home: After six consecutive games away from home the Stars are back in the Freede Center this week and for the next three Sooner Athletic Conference games after that. OCU is 1-0 at home with a 69-57 win over Oklahoma Wesleyan. Ellie Willard and Jerzie Bryant each scored 11 points in that game, while Victoria Ososanya and Weronika Tomaszuk each had 10 points. Tomaszuk had nine rebounds in the home game.
 
Walking Wounded: The Stars had seven players available in their last game at MACU and one of those missed much of the fourth quarter with an injury.
 
Non-Con: The Stars are 3-1 in non-conference games this season. Ellie Willard averages 18.8 points per game against non-conference opponents this season. Weronika Tomaszuk and Jerzie Bryant average 10.3 per non-conference game. The three wins are against Oklahoma Wesleyan, Ottawa (Ariz.) and Sterling and the loss was against Central Methodist. All three OCU victims have a combined record of 11-8 and none are below .500.
 
Previously: Oklahoma City's banged-up women's basketball team fell at Mid-America Christian 69-55 on Saturday. The Stars had two starters and a few more reserves sidelined for the game but managed a one-point lead at halftime. Ellie Willard led the Stars with 19 points and had three steals. Victoria Ososanya added seven points, five rebounds and six assists. Lauren Rowan had seven points to go with her team-best six rebounds.
 
Scoring the Rock: Ellie Willard leads the Stars at 17.4 points per game. She has 14 of the team's 39 three-pointers this season and leads the team with 32.7 minutes per game.
 
On the Assist: Ellie Willard (2.6), Jerzie Bryant (2.2) and Lauren Rowan (2.0) all average two or more assists per game. OCU averages 12.3 assists per game, which is solidly in the middle of the pack in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
 
Defense: The Stars allow 78.6 points per game. Sunishka Kartik leads OCU with 1.3 steals per game and Amanda Sene Da Cruz has a team-leading three blocked shots.
 
Shooting: OCU shoots 38.6 percent from the floor, led by Monica Devine (65.2) and Victoria Ososanya (53.7). From the free-throw line, the Stars are shooting 67.2 percent. Sunishka Kartik is perfect in 14 attempts and Lauren Rowan checks in at 89.5 percent (17-19).
 
Trending: During this current three-game slide, OCU is shooting 30.5 percent from the field and being out-rebounded by a 45-29 margin. Only Ellie Willard is averaging double figures in scoring at 15.7 points per game.
 
Scouting the Eagles: Williams Baptist is 3-2 after an 88-73 loss at Arkansas Baptist. Cha'Myrean Ellis leads the team with 16.8 points and six rebounds per game. Chelsea Hamilton averages 15.6 points.
