COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Oklahoma City Women's Cross Country team finished 23rd overall among a 35 team field in the NAIA National Championshio meet on Friday at Gans Creek Course.
Erika Pena paced the Stars with the teams best finish coming in 69th overall out of 326 runners competing. Pena set her personal best in the 6k at 22:24.7, almost one minute better than when she ran the Gans Creek Course back on Sept. 27.
Louise Cocking joined Pena inside the top 75 with a time of 22:28.7 to claim the 74th slot among the group.
Oklahoma City Results 5K
Jaynie Halterman of Taylor (Ind.) won the individual title as she crossed the finish line with a time of 20:24.7. Halterman was the first Trojan to win an individual title in cross country and broke the previous championship record of 21:04.2, which was set by Addy Wiley of Huntington (Ind.).
The Master's (Calif.) emerged as the team champion by one point over Taylor (Ind.). The Mustangs finished with a total of 92 points and claimed its first national title. TMU was led by Hannah Fredericks, who finished in second place with a time of 20:45.3.
