OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City Women's Wrestling team has been ranked 14th in the first 2024 NAIA Preseason Poll. 

The Oklahoma City University Women's Wrestling team begins the season ranked 14th in the national preseason poll. The Stars feature a talented group of athletes, several of whom are nationally ranked, and are poised to make a strong impact on the mat. Here's a closer look at the standout wrestlers to watch this season:

Sofia Abramson – Competing at 103 lbs, sophomore Sofia Abramson enters the season ranked 9th in her weight class. A national qualifier from Nevada, Abramson has demonstrated significant growth and is looking to build upon her success from last year.

Avery Ashley – At 110 lbs, junior Avery Ashley, a Texas native and two-time All-American, holds the 9th spot in the country. Known for her fierce determination and consistency, Ashley is a cornerstone of the OCU team and aims to win a national title this season.

Destiny Campbell – Senior Destiny Campbell from California is ranked 11th in the 131 lb weight class. A two-time national qualifier, Campbell brings experience and leadership to the Stars and is determined to make her final year at OCU a memorable one.

Bryce White – Also competing at 131 lbs, junior Bryce White from Tennessee has been ranked 14th. As a two-time national qualifier, White's strength and skill make her a formidable competitor as she pushes to break into the top 8 this year.

Makayla Munoz – Sophomore Makayla Munoz from New Mexico, a national qualifier, starts the season ranked 11th in the 145 lb division. Munoz's relentless work ethic and dedication promise an exciting season as she looks to advance her national standing.

Ella Murphey – New to the OCU team, freshman Ella Murphey from Tennessee enters the rankings at 20th in the 180 lb category. With her fresh energy and raw talent, Murphey is a valuable addition to the lineup and will be one to watch as the season progresses.

Fans and supporters can follow the action as the Stars open their season at the Falcon Open in Wichita, Kansas, on Friday, November 1st. As OCU prepares for this early test, the team aims to build momentum for what is expected to be an exciting year.
