OKLAHOMA CITY -
Evert Silva of the OCU Cross Country team has been selected as the Sooner Athletic Conference Men's Runner of the Week.
Competing in the final regular season meet of the season
Evert Silva set a personal record with a time of 22:25.9.
Silva's time was good enough for a third place finish out of 368 runners in the Arturo Barrios Invitational breaking his previous time of 23:30.3. set in the Gans Creek Classic in Columbia, Mo.
Silva claims his second SAC Runner of the Week award this season.
Known for his successes in track, Silva competed in his first ever cross country meet finishing with a time of 23:30.3.
Silva led the Stars track team at nationals last spring with two victories as well as being apart of the win in the 4x800 relay. Silva was named the Championships Most Valuable Performer after notching 26 total points.
The senior won his first and the program's first outdoor 5000m title with a time of 14:31.06 meeting the NAIA A Standard in that event. Silva went on to garner a personal best in the 10,000 meter race with another NAIA A Standard accolade coming in at a time of 30:12.35.
