OKLAHOMA CITY - Evert Silva from the OCU men's cross country team has been selected as this week's Sooner Athletic Conference men's runner of the week. 

Silva posted a second-place finish out of 389 runners competing in the Gans Creek Classic in Columbia, Mo. hosted by the University of Missouri. 

Known for his successes in track, Silva competed in his first ever cross country meet finishing with a time of 23:30.3. 

Silva led the Stars track team at nationals last spring with two victories as well as being apart of the win in the 4x800 relay. Silva was named the Championships Most Valuable Performer after notching 26 total points.

The senior won his first and the program's first outdoor 5000m title with a time of 14:31.06 meeting the NAIA A Standard in that event. Silva went on to garner a personal best in the 10,000 meter race with another NAIA A Standard accolade coming in at a time of 30:12.35.

This is Silva's second Player of the Week selection.
