Stars hold fifth at Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate

Kamas downs eagle, birdie in round one

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – Oklahoma City tied for fifth place after round one of the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate on Sunday at the Sevierville Golf Club.

OCU's Maddi Kamas stands in a three-way tie for third at even par on the par-71, 5,803-yard golf course. The Stars, ranked second in NAIA women's golf, shot a 304.

Kamas, a sophomore accounting major from Kingfisher, Okla., posted a 36-35–71. Kamas made a birdie on the par-5, 432-yard third hole and eagle on the par-4, 341-yard fifth hole. Logan Allen stood at 3-over-par 38-36–74 tied for 10th. Allen sank two birdies in round one.
 
The Stars' Paige Wood shot a 42-34–76 at 5 over, adding a birdie. Jamie Welsh shot a 39-38–77 with three birdies and finished round one at 6 over playing as an individual.
 
MaKayla Tyrrell shot an 42-41–83. Natalie Gough rounded out the Stars with a round of 48-37–85.
 
OCU tees off round two at 9 a.m. CDT (10 a.m. EDT) Monday.
