Four Stars make all-American list

Gough becomes four-time all-American

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Natalie Gough collected her fourth all-American accolade as four Oklahoma City University student-athletes took NAIA women's golf all-American acclaim.

The Stars' Reagan Chaney and Maddi Kamas reeled in first-team all-American nods, while Gough and Paige Wood picked up second-team all-American honors. Gough became the 10th four-time all-American in program history.

Chaney established OCU single-season records with a 72.22 stroke average and 108 birdies while tying the Stars' mark with 32 rounds this season. Chaney, a freshman from Ardmore, Okla., concluded the 2021-22 season with a runner-up finish in the NAIA Championships at Lincoln Park Golf Course in Oklahoma City, finishing three shots off the pace with a 70-69-68–207.

Chaney put together three wins, four runner-up finishes and nine top-five finishes over the past season. Chaney turned in rounds under 70 10 times, shooting the top round (34-30–64), finest 36-hole score (64-69–133) and best 54-hole scores (70-68-67–205) in OCU women's golf history. She became Sooner Athletic Conference player of the year and four-time SAC golfer of the week.

Kamas posted the second best scoring average in Oklahoma City history with 72.70 shots per 18 holes. Kamas, a freshman from Kingfisher, Okla., accumulated three wins, nine top-five showings and four rounds below 70 this season, culminating with a tie for third in the NAIA Championships (69-69-70–208). Kamas won the SAC individual title with a 71-73-71–215 on April 25-26 in Duncan, Okla. Kamas grabbed three SAC player of the week awards and NAIA golfer of the week for March 28-April 3.

Gough landed three SAC player of the year accolades, four all-conference honors, three all-tournament nods in the SAC Championships, four SAC player of the week awards and all-tournament in the 2021 NAIA Championships in her career. Gough, a senior from Bixby, Okla., supplied OCU with a 74.19 stroke average, which ranks as the third best single-season scoring average by a Star. Gough posted eight top-five finishes this season with her third career victory in the Coqui Classic on Nov. 1-2 in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico. Gough's career scoring average of 75.63 in 92 rounds ranks sixth in program history.

Wood carded 75.28 strokes per round in 32 rounds. Wood, a freshman from McKinney, Texas, had three top-five finishes and a win in the Las Vegas Shootout on Feb. 21-22 at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev.

This season, Oklahoma City tied for the second most victories in a season (eight) while taking the program's 17th conference title. OCU delivered the top team round (272, Rose Creek Classic, Oct. 4-5), best 36-hole score twice (560, Southwestern Christian Invitational, Sept. 7-8; Sydney Cox Invitational, Oct. 11-12) and the top five 54-hole scores (846, Rose Creek Classic) in team history. The Stars came up with the single-season team scoring average record with a 292.25 team stroke average to best the 2016-17 squad's 305.96 as well as the most birdies (406) in program history.

The Stars have taken eight national titles (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2013, 2014 and 2017).
