OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University sophomore Shimales Abebe has been named Sooner Athletic Conference men's track runner of the week after posting two first-place finishes in the Oklahoma Sooner Invitational & Multi at the John Jacobs track & field complex. 
 
Abebe opened with a win on Friday in the 5,000 meters with a time of 14:58.07, a time which was 8.83 seconds in front of Colin Caso from the University of Oklahoma. He came back strong in the 1,500 meters on Saturday, delivering a time that was his personal best and met the B standard for the NAIA Championships. Abebe won the race with a time of 3 minutes, 54.28 seconds. Leading the pack of three OCU runners to finish in the top five of the event.
