DAVENPORT, Iowa – Oklahoma City University seeks postseason honors in the NAIA Northeast Qualifying Group Competitive Cheerleading Championships on Saturday at Lee Lohman Arena.

Oklahoma City looks to grab its sixth consecutive qualifier title and earn its way to the NAIA Championships. The qualifier starts 11 a.m. with the Stars performing in the preliminaries 11:40 a.m. Saturday. The finals will be 1 p.m.

The Stars delivered their best score of the season with a 92.30 on Feb. 12 in the Baker Classic in Baldwin City, Kan. OCU has put together an 88.69 average score in four performances to rank third in the NAIA this season.

In 2020-21, Oklahoma City reeled in the national championship with a score of 91.53 with a final performance that landed an astounding 91.95 score March 12-13 in the NAIA Championships in Davenport, Iowa.

"We have spent some time adding difficulty to our routine, and I'm looking forward to seeing it play out on the mat this weekend," OCU coach Alicia Bailey said. "This winter storm and having to cancel multiple practices this week is not ideal, but these athletes are resilient. They have been faced with one obstacle after another and have learned to be strong and how to overcome. I know this competition is going to be tough. We have been diligently focusing on us and how to get better each day, and I believe this competition will show that."

Preliminary scores will be 25 percent of a team's overall score, while finals scores count for 75 percent. The No. 1 team wins a berth in the NAIA Championships on March 11-12 in Ypsilanti, Mich.

OCU cheerleaders will put on their all-American performances Saturday. This year's squad features four all-Americans – three-time all-American Kenzie Landes and two-time all-Americans Katie Gregory, Keyanna Salmon and Peyton York

The Stars boast of four NAIA championships (2014, 2015, 2017, 2021) and nine National Cheerleaders Association titles.
