OCU duo makes CoSIDA academic all-district team

Selzer becomes two-time academic all-district honoree

AUSTIN, Texas – Oklahoma City University's Erika Ankney and Abby Selzer snared CoSIDA academic all-district® acclaim. 

Selzer collected her second NAIA women's basketball academic all-district 4 nod as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Ankney, a senior from Harrah, Okla., has posted 16.5 points, 3.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.52 steals per contest in 2021-22. Ankney piled up a career-best 31 points at Southwestern Christian on Jan. 8. 

Ankney's career honors include two-time all-Sooner Athletic Conference, SAC player of the week, two-time NAIA scholar-athlete, two-time SAC scholar-athlete and two-time SAC commissioner's honor roll. 

Selzer, a senior from Thomas, Okla., has supplied Oklahoma City with 18.6 points, 10.1 rebounds and 1.43 blocked shots a game while leading the NAIA in field-goal percentage (67.6 percent) this season. She turned in a career-high 29 points on Nov. 23 at Our Lady of the Lake (Texas). 

In her career, Selzer has totaled 1,672 points and 731 rebounds to rank seventh on Oklahoma City's all-time scoring list. Selzer has been honored as a two-time NAIA and Women's Basketball Coaches Association all-American, 2019-20 SAC athlete of the year, SAC player of the year, three-time all-conference, SAC freshman of the year, two-time SAC Tournament all-tournament and four-time SAC player of the week. Selzer's academic accolades include two-time NAIA scholar-athlete, two-time SAC scholar-athlete, two-time academic all-SAC and three-time SAC commissioner's honor roll. 

The academic all‐district® women's basketball team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student‐athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CoSIDA academic all‐America® program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. First‐team academic all‐district® honorees advance to the CoSIDA academic all‐America® ballot. First‐, second‐ and third‐team academic all‐America® honorees will be announced in mid‐March.
