Talbi Earns Sooner Athletic Conference Honor After Setting School Record in Indoor Mile

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University junior Zouhair Talbi has been named Sooner Athletic Conference indoor track & field runner of the week after posting a personal best and school record effort of 3:59.50 in the mile at the Washburn Open on Saturday.

That program setting mark was also the best for the NAIA indoor season thus far and made the A standard for the mile or the NAIA indoor track & field championships. Talbi is the two-time defending NAIA Cross Country national champion and one of the top distance collegiate runners in any division.

To start the meet on Friday, Talbi anchored OCU's distance medley relay to a second-place finish while meeting the A standard in the event. The Stars' distance medley relay team of Shimales Abebe, Tate Smithhart, Milan Todorovic and Talbi turned in the best time in the NAIA this season with a 9:59.32 effort.
