OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University junior
Zouhair Talbi has been named Sooner Athletic Conference indoor track & field runner of the week after posting a personal best and school record effort of 3:59.50 in the mile at the Washburn Open on Saturday.
Â
That program setting mark was also the best for the NAIA indoor season thus far and made the A standard for the mile or the NAIA indoor track & field championships. Talbi is the two-time defending NAIA Cross Country national champion and one of the top distance collegiate runners in any division.
Â
To start the meet on Friday, Talbi anchored OCU's distance medley relay to a second-place finish while meeting the A standard in the event. The Stars' distance medley relay team of
Shimales Abebe,
Tate Smithhart,
Milan Todorovic and Talbi turned in the best time in the NAIA this season with a 9:59.32 effort.
