OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University senior guard Erika Ankney has been named Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Week for games played Jan. 3-9.
 
After missing Thursday's game against Mid-America Christian, Ankney recorded a career-high 31 points to lead OCU to an 81-76 overtime road win over Southwestern Christian. She sent the game into overtime with a driving lay-up with only two seconds remaining in regulation.
 
In overtime, Ankney provided the Stars a 75-73 lead with a fastbreak layup with 1:19 remaining before sealing the win with two free throws with seconds remaining. She made 11 of 20 field goal attempts and eight of 10 free throw attempts in the win while also contributing two assists and two steals.
 
Ankney's 30-point outing was the first for OCU since Daniela Galindo finished with 37 points against Providence (Mont.) on March 15, 2018 in the NAIA Division I Championship Tournament in Billings, Mont. She had one of six 30-point scoring performances in the conference this season.

In 2021-22, Ankney has provided the Stars with 19.6 points, 2.7 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.80 steals a contest.
