OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University returns to Lincoln Park Golf Course for the U.C. Ferguson Classic on Monday and Tuesday.

The Stars will compete for the first time in 2021-22 in the 49th edition of the U.C. Ferguson Classic. The tournament, which will feature 19 teams, will begin with a shotgun start 8 a.m. Monday at Lincoln Park.

In the last U.C. Ferguson Classic, David Meyers of OCU took the individual title while tying the top score in tournament history. Meyers shot a 69-62-66–197 to equal the scores shot by Oklahoma Christian's Bruno Buccolo in 2006 and Sam Johnston in 2012. Meyers became the third two-time individual winner in tournament history.

Dalton Daniel will anchor the Stars after collecting NAIA all-American acclaim last season. Daniel led Oklahoma City to the Sooner Athletic Conference championship, which was OCU's 24th SAC title. The Stars seized the conference crown by 13 strokes over a field that included three ranked teams. OCU has captured 11 national titles in 2001, '02, '03, '04, '06, '07, '10, '12, '13, '16 and '18.
 
TOP RETURNERS
 
• Daniel, a senior from Newcastle, Okla., provided OCU with a 71.94 stroke average last season. Daniel turned in three top-five showings in five starts. Daniel finished runner-up in the SAC Championships by one shot

• Two other Stars return after competing in the top five for much of the 2020-21 season. Bosten Benn, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., supplied OCU with a 75.50 scoring average with one third-place finish. Bo Robbins, a sophomore from Guthrie, Okla., turned in 77.33 strokes per round last season

• Also returning are Robbie Sager (77.10 stroke average), Will Fore (77.65), Ben Thionnet (80.00) and Carson Breckenridge (83.15)
 
NEW FACES
 
• Tres Hill comes into his freshman year with the Stars after putting together an excellent summer. Hill, a freshman from Elk City, Okla., posted victories in the Oklahoma Junior Masters at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Okla., and the Oklahoma Golf Association State Amateur Championship at Cedar Ridge Country Club in Broken Arrow, Okla., in July. Hill edged his teammate Dylan Teeter 1-up in the OGA State Amateur. Hill capped his prep career by capturing the Class 4A state title by one stroke at Winter Creek Golf & Country Club in Blanchard, Okla.

• Teeter took part in summer competition as well. Teeter, a freshman from Bixby, Okla., finished runner-up to Hill in the OGA State Amateur and seventh place in the Oklahoma Junior Masters. Teeter finished third place in the Class 6A state tournament at Forest Ridge Golf Club in Broken Arrow, Okla.

• Jacob Wright rounds out OCU's recruiting class. Wright, a freshman from Abilene, Texas, took the District 2-5A title
 
MEET THE COACH
 
• Andy Crabtree enters his fourth season at OCU. Crabtree guided the Stars to a third-place finish in the 2019 NAIA Championships at Las Sendas Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz.

• Crabtree led the Stars to the SAC championship April 26-27 at Dornick Hills Golf & Country Club in Ardmore, Okla. He has coached 11 all-Americans and 10 all-region honorees at Oklahoma City

• Prior to coming to OCU, Crabtree led Old Dominion to its best finish in the Conference USA Tournament (runner-up) as a head coach. Crabtree helped bring UNLV two Mountain West Conference championships

• OCU has four tournaments scheduled for the fall. The schedule takes OCU to Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton, Kan., Hawks Creek Golf Club in Westworth Village, Texas and Rose Creek Golf Club in Edmond, Okla.

• The NAIA Championships come back to TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill., on May 17-20. OCU has traditionally performed well at TPC Deere Run, taking national championships in 2010, 2016 and 2018 at the site of the PGA TOUR's John Deere Classic
