Six Stars garner all-SAC

Halter, Lierle collect second all-conference accolades

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University's Gunner Halter and Bryson Lierle became two-time all-Sooner Athletic Conference performers to highlight six Stars who made the all-SAC baseball team.
Halter, Lierle and Dalton Reed made the all-conference first team, while Cross Factor, Jake Patterson and Tanner Schoeninger took second-team honors.
Halter has supplied OCU with a .386 batting average, 14 home runs, 48 RBIs, 63 runs scored, 73 hits, 20 doubles, a triple and 14 stolen bases. Halter's 20 doubles rank 13th in the NAIA. Halter, a senior from Overland Park, Kan., accumulated eight three-hit performances, two two-homer outings and a career-high eight RBIs at Central Christian (Kan.) on April 2.
Lierle has posted a .370 average, 17 homers, 47 RBIs, 48 runs scored, 61 hits and 17 doubles. Lierle, a senior from Altus, Okla., hammered three homers vs. Wayland Baptist (Texas) during the SAC Tournament on Saturday and drove in a season-best five runs at LSU-Shreveport on March 13. Lierle's career numbers include a .328 average, 38 doubles, 26 homers and 112 RBIs.
Reed rates among the top five in the NAIA with a .960 slugging percentage (third), 166 total bases (fourth), 23 homers (fifth), 0.47 homers a game (fifth) and total bases per game (3.39). Reed, a senior from Roff, Okla., owns a .452 average, 71 RBIs, 14 doubles, two triples, 54 runs scored and 80 hits. Reed has four games with two homers and eight RBIs at Wayland Baptist on April 18. Lierle and Reed each hit five homers during the SAC Tournament to tie for the tournament lead.
Factor has amassed a .344 average, nine homers, 54 RBIs, 10 steals and two triples. Factor, a senior from Yukon, Okla., stands tied with Halter for 13th nationally with 20 doubles.
Patterson ranks among the top 20 in the NAIA with nine wins. Patterson, a senior left-hander from Ardmore, Okla., has rang up a 9-2 record, 5.32 earned run average, three complete games and 75 strikeouts in 67.2 innings. Patterson fanned 10 vs. Mid-America Christian on March 6. He has a 20-6 record, 185 strikeouts and four complete games in his career.
Schoeninger rates third in the league with his 2.21 ERA. Schoeninger, a senior righty from Fort Collins, Colo., has turned in a 6-3 mark, two complete games and 58 strikeouts in 57 innings.
