Stars take fourth spot in preseason top 25

OCU appears in NAIA rankings for 145th consecutive time

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Oklahoma City University enters the 2021 season at No. 4 in the NAIA softball rankings.
The Stars accumulated 446 points in the preseason poll. OCU made its 14th consecutive appearance among the top five and 145th inclusion in a row in the NAIA's top 25.
Last season, Oklahoma City went 18-3 to follow up its national runner-up finish in 2019. OCU has taken 10 national championships in 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2007, 2016 and 2017 and become national runner-up six times.
Two Sooner Athletic Conference teams reside in the nation's top five as USAO owns the No. 2 spot in the ratings. The conference has taken three of the past four national titles and 12 national crowns. Southern Oregon begins the season with the top ranking after winning the 2019 national championship.
OCU's Phil McSpadden owns a 1,745-387 career record, which is the most victories over four-year schools ever, in 33 years. He has led OCU to seven 60-win seasons.
