OKLAHOMA CITY – Paige Pendley has joined Oklahoma City University's women's basketball team for 2020-21.
Pendley comes to OCU after spending the previous season at Rockhurst (Mo.), where she picked up honors from her conference.
Last season, Pendley landed on the Great Lakes Valley Conference all-freshman team. Pendley recorded 11.0 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists a game and 12.6 points per contest in league competition. Pendley tallied a career-best 30 points at Missouri-St. Louis on Feb. 22.
"We are excited to add Paige to our women's basketball family," OCU coach Brett Tahah said. "She is bringing college playing experience, a high basketball IQ and she will be able to play a lot of different positions on the court. Look for her to have an immediate impact on an already talented team."
Pendley went to Rockhurst after becoming an all-stater at Elgin, Okla. Pendley made the Oklahoma Coaches Association, Oklahoma Girls Basketball Coaches Association, Oklahoman and Tulsa World all-state teams as a senior. She led Elgin to the Class 4A state tournament semifinals by sinking a 3-point play in overtime of the quarterfinals and secured all-tournament acclaim. Pendley averaged 18.5 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.13 steals a game.
"I'm beyond excited to be at Oklahoma City University playing ball closer to home and furthering my academic career," Pendley said.
In 2019-20, Oklahoma City (30-2) collected its fourth consecutive SAC regular-season championship. The Stars owned the No. 1 spot in three consecutive national polls while opening with a 27-0 record for the program's best start since going 34-0 in 2002-03. OCU posted 30 wins for the third time in four years with its 23rd consecutive NAIA Division I Championship Tournament berth.
OCU has won nine national titles in 1988, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2017.
