Abe Lemons Golf Classic returns for 2020

Support OCU by being at Abe Lemons Golf Classic on Sept. 25

OKLAHOMA CITY – Honoring the memory of one of America's greatest coaches, the 18th Abe Lemons Golf Classic has been set for Friday, Sept. 25 at Lincoln Park Golf Course.
Held annually as a major fund-raiser for OCU athletics, the tournament features a large field of alumni, fans and golfers from around the state. OCU coaches and administrators will also be on hand to meet and visit before and after the event.
"This tournament is so special because it not only honors a legend, it also is a fantastic avenue for direct support to the student-athletes," said Jim Abbott, OCU athletic director. "This event is vital to our commitment of a first-class experience for our teams, and we enjoy getting a chance to spend some time on the course with so many great OCU alumni and fans."
The Abe Lemons Golf Classic provides valuable funding for the OCU athletic department and the Abe Lemons endowed scholarship. Registration for a four-person team is $600, and hole sponsorships are $250 ($150 if also entering a team). To sign up a team or sponsor a hole, visit the online registration page here or download this form and return to the address provided. For information, or to donate prizes for the tournament, contact Chris Maxon, Associate Athletic Director for Development – camaxon@okcu.edu or 405-208-5431.
This year's tournament will again feature four-person teams playing in a scramble format. Lunch will be provided, and all players participating in the tournament will be eligible for additional prizes. Check-in takes place at 7:30 a.m., followed by an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Space is limited, and the tournament is expected to reach capacity prior to the Sept. 18 entry deadline.
Lincoln Park, Oklahoma City's oldest public golf course, unveiled its new state-of-the-art $9.25 million clubhouse in spring 2015. A great partner to OCU athletics, Lincoln played host to the 2019 NAIA Women's Golf Championships and was slated to host again in 2020. Due to the pandemic, the event was postponed, but will be returning to the course for the 2022 NAIA Championships.
