Three Stars take academic all-America® honors

Kipkoros, Roguski and Shaw become first OCU cross country/track & field academic all-Americans

AUSTIN, Texas – Oscar Kipkoros, Michal Roguski and Mark Shaw of Oklahoma City University snared academic all-America® accolades as recognized by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Oklahoma City achieved a set of milestones with Kipkoros, Roguski and Shaw collecting CoSIDA academic all-American honors. The trio became the first Stars to take CoSIDA NAIA cross country/track & field academic all-American nods, while OCU raked in its most academic all-Americans in an academic year with eight in 2019-20.
Seven Stars snagged CoSIDA academic all-America® acclaim in 2015-16 for OCU's previous high for academic all-Americans in a year. Kipkoros, Roguski and Shaw gave OCU its most academic all-Americans in one sport since Julie Benanzer, Sally Cole and Mindie Meek were named CoSIDA women's soccer academic all-Americans in 2001-02. Oklahoma City boasts of 82 all-time CoSIDA academic all-Americans.
Kipkoros, a senior from Iten, Kenya, picked up a first-team academic all-American nod. Kipkoros owns a 3.67 cumulative grade-point average in his graduate work at OCU. Kipkoros is progressing towards a master's degree in non-profit leadership management after earning a master's in criminology from OCU. Kipkoros, a seven-time all-American, captured his second consecutive Sooner Athletic Conference individual cross country title and South Central Region athlete of the year as well as an all-academic award from the U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association.
Roguski and Shaw made the second team. Roguski, a senior from Siedlce, Poland, has compiled a 3.97 GPA majoring in chemistry.
Shaw, a senior from Ormesby, Middlesbrough, England, has earned a 3.36 undergraduate GPA after earning his exercise science degree and a 3.38 graduate GPA working on a master's in business administration. Shaw won the individual NAIA cross country championship for the second time in three years. He became USTFCCCA men's cross country athlete of the year and scholar-athlete of the year. Kipkoros, Roguski and Shaw previously landed academic all-district® honors in 2019-20.
CoSIDA began the distinguished academic all-America® program in 1952, and since then, has honored thousands of deserving student-athletes from numerous sports across all divisions with these elite academic all-America® scholar-athlete honors.
To be eligible for academic all-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
