DUNCAN, Okla. – Oklahoma City University recruit Maddi Kamas took the Women's Oklahoma Golf Association Stroke Play Championship on Tuesday at the Territory Golf Club.
Kamas, a prep senior-to-be from Kingfisher, Okla., prevailed in a playoff against Missouri State sophomore Faith Belmear and Tulsa alumna Michaela Dierinzo to capture the title. Kamas posted a par on the first playoff hole.
Facing windy conditions, Kamas turned in a 70-76–146 through two rounds. Kamas led the tournament after one round. Kamas collected her fourth victory in five events on the local amateur circuit. The previous week, Kamas won the Oklahoma Junior Stroke Play.
Previously, OCU alumnae Caroline Goodin in 2014 and Anna Mikish in 2017 have won the WOGA Stroke Play Championship. Kamas, the 2019 Oklahoman all-city girls golfer of the year, became the first high school golfer to win the tournament.
The Stars own eight national championships won in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2013, 2014 and 2017.
