Hill nabs record win in boys division, while Chaney reels in girls win

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University recruit Tres Hill took the victory in the Earlywine Park Fall Classic on the Oklahoma Junior Golf Tour in record-setting fashion Sunday.
Hill posted a final-round 32-30–62, what is considered the course record for a tournament at Earlywine Park Golf Course. OCU swept the top boys and girls honors in the Earlywine Park Fall Classic as future Star Reagan Chaney polished off the victory.
Hill, a senior from Elk City, Okla., carded a 70-62–132 to win by eight strokes. Hill finished 12 shots under par by nailing four eagles during the tournament with three coming in the final round. Hill sank eagles on the eighth, 13th and 18th holes Sunday. During the final round, Hill recorded six birdies and two bogeys.
As a sophomore, Hill turned in a tie for fifth place in the Class 4A state tournament. Hill produced a 78-73-75–226 at Dornick Hills Golf & Country Club in Ardmore, Okla.
"I believe Tres will make an impact right away," OCU coach Andy Crabtree said. "He has the firepower to shoot low numbers, and we are thrilled to have Tres join our team at OCU."
Chaney, a senior from Ardmore, Okla., boasted of an 11-shot win with her 7-under-par 69-68–137. She notched 11 birdies and an eagle over the two rounds.
As a sophomore, Chaney led Plainview (Okla.) to its third consecutive state championship by capturing the individual state title in the Class 3A state tournament. Plainview is coached by OCU alumna Taylor Howard, a two-time all-American as a Star. Chaney's winning score was 66-70–136 at Westwood Park Golf Course in Norman, Okla.
Oklahoma City has taken 11 men's golf national championships in 2001, '02, '03, '04, '06, '07, '10, '12, '13, '16 and '18. The Stars own eight women's golf national titles won in 2005, '06, '07, '08, '09, '13, '14 and '17.
OCU hosts the Sydney Cox Invitational on Oct. 12-13 at Lincoln Park Golf Course in Oklahoma City.
