Stars garner sixth spot in national rankings

OCU makes top 25 for 262nd consecutive time

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Oklahoma City University stood at No. 6 in the preseason NAIA women's basketball rankings.
Oklahoma City held a spot in the national rankings for the 262nd consecutive poll dating back to 1997-98. The Stars have been among the top 10 for 11 ratings in a row.
OCU moved into the No. 1 ranking for two polls in 2019-20. The Stars (30-2) stormed to a 27-0 start for their finest start since a 34-0 run to open 2002-03. OCU captured its fourth consecutive Sooner Athletic Conference regular-season title, reached 30 wins for the third time in four years and picked up its 23rd consecutive national-tournament bid.
In the poll, the Stars reeled in 486 points. Westmont (Calif.) took the top spot, while Wayland Baptist (Texas) came in second. Westmont garnered 17 No. 1 votes, and Wayland Baptist held four top votes. Wayland Baptist shared the SAC regular-season title and won the SAC Tournament crown in 2019-20.
Oklahoma City has won nine national championships in 1988, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2017.
