OCU’s Walbergh becomes academic all-American

Senior from Edmond, Okla., earned criminal justice degree, 3.92 cumulative grade-point average

AUSTIN, Texas – Quinton Walbergh of Oklahoma City University collected first-team NAIA baseball academic all-American from the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Walbergh, a senior infielder from Edmond, Okla., boasted of a 3.92 cumulative grade-point average while graduating with a criminal justice degree.
Walbergh tallied a .342 batting average, 67 hits, 14 doubles, a triple, six home runs, 34 RBIs and five stolen bases. Walbergh hit two home runs to rally OCU past Oklahoma Wesleyan on March 27 and notched five hits at Texas Wesleyan on March 30. He became the Stars' regular shortstop, a position he had not played in college.
Walbergh's other honors off the field have been NAIA scholar-athlete, academic all-Sooner Athletic Conference and the Jim Wade Award winner for OCU. Walbergh seeks a future in law enforcement.
To be eligible for academic all-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
Since the program's inception in 1952, the CoSIDA has bestowed academic all-America honors on more than 20,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
