Stars' Eldredge garners academic all-American acclaim

Junior from Eufaula, Okla., becomes OCU's sixth women's golf academic all-American

AUSTIN, Texas – Melissa Eldredge from Oklahoma City University took College Sports Information Directors of America academic all-American acclaim.
Eldredge, a junior golfer from Eufaula, Okla., made the NAIA women's at-large academic all-American second team.
Eldredge boasts of a 3.87 cumulative grade-point average pursuing a degree in cell & molecular biology. Eldredge became the Stars' third academic all-American in 2018-19, joining Aboubakr Diallo (men's soccer) and Quinton Walbergh (baseball). OCU numbers six women's golf academic all-Americans and 74 academic all-Americans all-time.
This season, Eldredge became first-team all-American, Sooner Athletic Conference individual champion, SAC player of the year, all-conference, two-time SAC golfer of the week and NAIA golfer of the week. Eldredge posted a 75.56 scoring average, 66 birdies, six top-10 finishes and two wins. She turned in the fourth best stroke average in program history.

Eldredge earned an NAIA Championships all-tournament nod with her fourth-place finish May 14-17 at Lincoln Park Golf Course. Eldredge produced the lowest round in tournament history with a 35-32–67 during the first round of the NAIA Championships.
Off the course, Eldredge collected NAIA scholar-athlete and CoSIDA academic all-district accolades.
The women's at-large team includes student-athletes from bowling, fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, rowing, skiing, swimming, tennis and water polo.
To be eligible for academic all-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
Since the program's inception in 1952, the College Sports Information Directors of America has bestowed academic all-America honors on more than 20,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
