ROCKY FACE, Ga. – Oklahoma City University stood in second place after the first two rounds in the Dalton State Roadrunner Classic on Monday at the Farm Golf Club.
Oklahoma City, ranked No. 2 in NAIA men's golf, posted a team score of 292-295–587 on the par-72, 7,036-yard course. The Stars trail top-ranked Coastal Georgia by 15 strokes after the tournament's first two rounds.
Other ranked schools competing are No. 3 Texas Wesleyan, No. 4 Dalton State (Ga.), No. 5 Keiser (Fla.), No. 6 Northwestern Ohio, No. 8 South Carolina Beaufort, No. 9 Rocky Mountain (Mont.), No. 12 Thomas (Ga.), No. 16 Taylor (Ind.), No. 20 Wayland Baptist (Texas) and No. 25 Southeastern (Fla.).
Ty Stites completed Monday tied for third to lead the Stars. Stites, a sophomore from Sallisaw, Okla., carded a 71-72–143, while Carson Seals, a junior from Ardmore, Okla., shot a 72-73–145 to tie for ninth after day one.
Peri'Don Castille held a share of 29th for the Stars. Castille, a junior from Dallas, recorded a 77-74–151. Also competing for OCU was Jack Madden, who turned in a 72-82–154, and Brandon Strathe, who shot an 80-76–156.
Temperatures began in the low 70s and dropped into the low 60s as the day progressed. The wind stayed around 6 mph and reached gusts of 23 mph. Action was delayed an hour and a half due to rain. The field mostly dealt with scattered clouds and clear skies throughout the day.
The final round of the tournament begins at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
