OCU's Selzer collects second-team all-American honor

Stars have 12 consecutive seasons with an all-American

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Abby Selzer of Oklahoma City University reeled in second-team NAIA Division I women's basketball all-American acclaim.
Selzer, a freshman from Thomas, Okla., accumulated Sooner Athletic Conference first-team, all-SAC Tournament team, first-team all-SAC and a conference player of the week honor this season.
In 2018-19, Selzer produced 18.7 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per contest. Among NAIA Division I, Selzer ranked first in field goal percentage (63.9), sixth in total scoring (649) and 15th in points per game (17.079). She scored her career high with 26 points against Wiley (Texas) on Dec. 31, against Wayland Baptist (Texas) on March 2 and against Clark (Iowa) on March 16 in the NAIA Tournament in Billings, Mont.
Selzer tallied 20 points or more 12 times this season. She collected a career-high 14 rebounds and five blocks against Philander Smith (Ark.) on Nov. 16.
Selzer eclipsed 600 career points with 26 against Clark (Iowa) on March 16 in the NAIA Tournament in Billings, Mont. Selzer posted 649 points, 257 rebounds, 37 blocks and 23 steals during her freshman year as a Star.
Oklahoma City (33-5) took the conference regular-season championship for its 19th SAC regular-season crown, made its 25th NAIA Tournament appearance, reached the NAIA Tournament for the 22st consecutive year, notched their 13th 30-win season and won 25 games for the 20th time in 21 years. OCU owns a 648-87 mark for an .882 winning percentage since 1998-99.
Seniors Michaela Kay and Taylor LaCour led the Stars to a two-year record of 61-11 with two SAC regular-season crowns, a SAC Tournament title and NAIA national championship runner-up. Kay, a senior from Spokane, Wash., became a two-time all-SAC tournament selection and an academic all-conference honoree. Kay averaged 7.2 points, 3.6 assist, 3.2 rebounds and 1.3 steals a game, numbers she increased to 10.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.3 rebounds per contest during the SAC Tournament. Kay provided OCU with 458 points, 190 assists, 170 rebounds, and 74 steals in her career. LaCour, a senior from Georgetown, Texas, has received SAC tournament all-tournament team, third-team all-SAC, academic all-SAC. LaCour contributed 8.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists per contest. LaCour totaled 718 points, 331 rebounds, 86 assists and 48 steals in her Stars career.
