NEW ORLEANS – National champion Oklahoma City University garnered the NAIA men's cross country scholar team of the year as honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
USTFCCCA recognized OCU as the team that excelled the most both in the classroom and on the cross country course. Four Stars took USTFCCCA all-academic honors.
In order to qualify for the all-academic honor, student-athletes must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 in addition to competing at the NAIA Championships.
The Stars topped the USTFCCCA's list of 29 men's cross country teams who achieved a cumulative 3.0 grade-point average. As a team, OCU posted a 3.31 GPA.
Oklahoma City took home the men's team title at the NAIA Championships by scoring 116 points, 27 fewer than runner-up Indiana Wesleyan. The Stars were led by Max McNeill and Oscar Kipkoros, who both finished in the top 10 individually at ninth and 10th, respectively.
