Williams of OCU picks up SAC player of week

Senior from Denver takes second weekly league award this season

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University's Chris Williams snatched his second Sooner Athletic Conference men's basketball player of the week nod of the season.
Williams, a senior guard from Denver, supplied the Stars with 26.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.67 steals a contest over the week of Feb. 4-10.
Williams matched the best scoring total in the SAC this season in Oklahoma City's 104-86 victory over Southwestern Christian on Feb. 5 at Abe Lemons Arena in Oklahoma City. Williams accumulated a career-best 41 points to go with 10 rebounds, six assists and three steals for his first double-double of the season. Williams knocked down 11 of 22 field-goal tries, 6 of 11 3-point attempts and 13 of 15 from behind the foul line. Williams established season highs on field goals and treys and equaled his season best for free throws made.
OCU has ripped off a six-game winning streak that has boosted the Stars (17-7, 12-6 SAC) to a share of second place in the league standings. He has averaged 28.2 points a game during OCU's streak.
Williams has posted 19.2 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.46 steals a game with a 40.1 percent 3-point shooting percentage this season. He ranks fourth in the NAIA with an 87.7 percent free-throw percentage.
