LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Six Oklahoma City University student-athletes from its 2019 NAIA softball runner-up team received NFCA all-America scholar-athlete status.
The six Stars who received the honor were Julianne Abeloe, Kayla Gallagher, Kennedy Jackson, Baileigh Loux, Jaci Smith and Bailey Whitmore. OCU became one of 32 NAIA listed with a 3.0 combined grade-point average or better.
All six softball players earned the honor by producing a 3.5 grade-point average or higher for 2018-19. Those six also received academic all-SAC honors last season. Abeloe and Gallagher were both also selected for an NAIA scholar-athlete award. Oklahoma City maintained a combined GPA of 3.29 in 2018-19. The Stars also collected an NAIA scholar team honor.
The NFCA rankings and honors recognize the academic prowess of softball teams across the Association's membership categories. NAIA and two-year programs each amassed 570 recipients of the all-America scholar-athlete accolade.
