OCU continues season in OUAZ Spring Invitational

Stars look to return to title form

LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – Oklahoma City University returns to the course in the Ottawa-Arizona Spring Invitational at 9:30 a.m. CST Monday at The Wigwam Golf Resort.
The Stars, ranked 16th in NAIA women's golf, will be part of a six-team field. Top-ranked Keiser (Fla.), No. 11 Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) and No. 19 Morningside (Iowa) are the other top-25 teams at the tournament.
Arizona Christian, Ottawa-Arizona and West Texas round out the field. The 54-hole tournament begins in a shotgun start on the Wigwam Red Course.
OCU will bring a lineup consisting of Melissa Eldredge, Natalie Gough, McKenzie McCoy, Regan McQuaid, Arianna Medina and Lauryn Pritchard.
Two Stars rank among the NAIA's top 20 in scoring average. Gough, a freshman from Bixby, Okla., tops OCU with 75.40 shots per round and 24 birdies, while Eldredge, a junior from Eufaula, Okla., has produced a 76.10 stroke average with 17 birdies. Medina, a sophomore from Phoenix, will return to her home state for this tournament.
Oklahoma City posted its best finish of the fall with a first-place showing in the Southwestern Christian Invitational on Sept. 17-18 at Lake Hefner Golf Course. Eldredge and Pritchard became co-champions of the event.
OCU owns NAIA women's golf titles won in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2013, 2014 and 2017. The Stars took their eighth national crown May 26, 2017 with an eight-shot victory at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
