Tasha Hinex serves as the head coach of the Oklahoma City University competitive pom/dance team. She started coaching OCU in 2009-10 and has led the Stars to five national championships, including the 2014 NAIA pom/dance title and five National Dance Alliance crowns.
Hinex grew up dancing in Shawnee, Okla., under the direction of Janet Combs. In high school, she was a member and captain of the pom squad.
She is a graduate with her bachelor of fine arts in dance from the University of Central Oklahoma, a past member of Kaleidoscope Dance Company and past member of the UCO pom squad.
She worked 13 years with the National Dance Alliance as a head instructor and choreographer, teaching high school and college pom camps across the United States. NDA has opened numerous doors including judging NDA High School Nationals, NDA All-Star Nationals and many regional competitions. She also had the opportunity to teach and judge the JCDA (Japanese Cheer Dance Association) in Japan.
She continues to teach and choreograph for local studios and high schools and is an original company member of R.A.C.E. Dance Company.
